About The Role

 

We are currently looking to recruit a Commercial Director to take ownership of the Commercial and procurement functions for Morrison Telecom Services

Morrison Telecom Services is focused on the design, build and maintenance of telecom infrastructure for key clients in the fixed telecom market. Working collaboratively with clients, Morrison Telecom Services brings commitment, innovation, teamwork and accountability to deliver long- term partnerships. We are part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. We deliver a range of essential infrastructure services to the utilities, transport, data and telecom sectors across the UK and Ireland.

The Commercial Director will Operate as the Managing Director’s commercial conscience and ensure that targeted margin is achieved, cash is collected promptly and risks are appropriately managed.

Reporting to the Managing Director, your duties & responsibilities as the Commercial Director will include:

  • Provide constructive challenge and support to Senior Management team peers in the commercial interests of the business
  • Ensure all suppliers are correctly on-boardedand that the procurement function is working effectively by supporting the needs of the business.
  • To provide day to day management, coaching and development of the Commercial and Procurement Teams
  • Work collaboratively and in alignment with Head of Finance to ensure all financial and commercial reporting is consistent, accurate and clear
  • Senior Commercial point of contact with Openreach Commercial partner Management Team – attendance and lead for Openreach Commercial Board
  • Working closely with Senior Management team to identify and release opportunities to reduce costs, maximise revenue and cash balances.
  • Lead and actively participate in tender process and assessments including producing formal detailed reviews, risk matrix and settlements of proposed contracts in alignment with Group Business Management System
  • Ensure subcontracts are appropriately drafted, executed, administered and associated payments and made in line with agreed rates
  • Overall responsibility for successful delivery of Commercial Functions
  • Collate and scrutinise monthly cost value reconciliations (CVR’s) in accordance with Divisional and Group timelines
  • Commercial ‘sponsor’ and lead for implementation of new IT systems

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Significant construction industry commercial management experience
  • A proven leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can present at a senior level.
  • Technical experience in IT or Telecoms industries would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience working with various clients, able to multi-task and adapt approach as required
  • Detailed understanding of cost value reconciliations
  • Thorough understanding of sub-contract procurement and administration
  • Comprehensive understanding of forms of contacts and methods of measurement
  • Excellent I.T. and database skills. (MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Access)
  • Experience of high volume, low value maintenance contracts
  • Quantity surveying or commercial management degree or equivalent would be advantageous
